Ronald Youngblood is Professor Emeritus of Old Testament at Bethel Seminary San Diego. He has also served as a professor at Wheaton College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He was the Dean of Wheaton College Graduate School, Professor of Old Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at International College and Graduate School, Honolulu. Youngblood has also served as President of the Near East Archaeological Society.
Dr. Youngblood has been involved in Bible translation for much of his career: he served on the NIV translation team beginning in 1970, joined the Committee on Bible Translation in 1976, served on the translation team for a major revision of the NIV released in 1984. He served as Executive Editor for the NIrV, first published in 1995, part of the team that translated the TNIV. He was also chairman of the board for the International Bible Society, and Associate editor of the NIV Study Bible.
Youngblood has authored more than twenty books, including 1 and 2 Samuel in the Expositor’s Bible Commentary. He was the longtime editor of the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society and the General Editor of Nelson’s New Illustrated Bible Dictionary—the winner of the Gold Medallion Book Award by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. He is presently a member of the Evangelical Theological Society.
